Marielle Iivonen

MARIELLE IIVONEN (b. 1990) is a Swedish-Finnish violinist born in Stockholm. Having completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in the class of Peter Herresthal, Marielle is currently studying at the Sibelius Academy with Päivyt Meller. She will graduate in 2019. Marielle is especially fond of chamber music and has participated in chamber music projects with the Helsinki and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestras.

She freelances in various orchestras and plays in a violin-accordion duo, Duo Iivonen, with her brother Tony. In addition to the classical genre, Marielle enjoys playing Argentine tango. Her instrument is a violin by Joseph Odoardi from 1786 on kind loan from Risto Vainio LTD.
