The power of the arts can inspire, transform, and mobilize a community.

In the spirit of Versoi Ensemble’s cultural diplomacy vision, advocacy for fundamental human rights that transcend international borders is of paramount importance. In our inaugural project, we partnered with Music For Food to combat food insecurity and bring the important work of this organization to Sarasota, FL.

What is Music For Food?

Music For Food is a musician-led initiative based in Boston to fight hunger in our local communities. Now embarking on its 8th season in Boston, Music For Food was founded by Grammy award winning violist Kim Kashkashian in 2010.

The Mission

“We believe both music and food are essential to human life and growth. Music has the power to call forth the best in us, inspiring awareness and action when artists and audiences work together to transform the ineffable into tangible and needed food resources.

Our concerts raise resources and awareness in the fight against hunger, empowering all musicians who wish to use their artistry to further social justice.”

All Faiths Food Bank (AFFB) was founded by a group of individuals who, through their respective organizations, were feeding the hungry. They combined efforts in 1989 to incorporate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Since then, AFFB has been the only Food Bank serving Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. It has been a Certified Member of Feeding America since 1990.

In 2016, the Food Bank changed its mission representing a shift in how we address hunger and an understanding that hunger is a health issue. Since then AFFB’s new mission has been: Together with our partners, we provide healthy solutions to end hunger in our community.
